Question about counting calories

Home  \  Forums  \  Diet and Nutrition  \  Question about counting calories
THe internet is absolutely stuffed with information on determining how to calculate your calory intake, but NONE about how to know how many calories ur eating...
Can anyone shed some light on this for me...
I know protein and carbs are 4 calories per gram and fat is 9, but a steak isnt a solid glob of protein so I cant just weigh a steak and then multiply it... so how does it work?

I am assuming you're asking mainly about meats because most other foods give you the nutritional information. You can do a search on almost any search engine and find nutritional information on different cuts of meat. i.e. rib eye, t-bone, and so forth. Granted they are estimates, but it will give you an idea. With ground beef alot will say the fat percentage. Just and FYI usually the best tasting steaks are the most unhealthy at least IMO. It's like that little piece on any good prime rib that is about 2 bites that is completely surrounded by fat the best tasting tenderest piece, but the most unhealthy. lol
