Hi everyone,

My name is Conan Stevens
Height: 7' 1/4"
Weight: 143Kg
Nationality: Australian

I am a professional actor, currently shooting in Bangkok, Thailand and will likely be here the rest of 2006. Being massive over here is a rather different experience than in the West, the people really admire the work you have put in and no one is jealous. As a HUGE plus for me you acn buy Chicken and Rice every street corner so no more cooking the night before and walking around with little buckets all day, just imagine how much easier life is eating 8-9 times a day and not having to prepare food :D

No, it's just a rough estimate of how much weight you would need to obtain the same physique as another bb'er. FOr instance, Jon is 5'10" 230lbs in competition... I'm 6'4" and want to have a comparable figure so multiply the additional 6 inches X 15lbs = 90lbs... so 320lbs

Like I said, it's really a rough estimate but for some reason 15lbs per inch seems to hold up.

Good to see you back..Now on the lbs per in I have always heard 8lbs per inch IMO 15lb is alot just for 1in..Plus how lean you are plays a big part in it.
-10 lbs for every inch hes taller than you. i think that would work
from 6 foot to about 7 foot, 10 pounds per inch at MOST. I would say more like 7 pounds.

I hope Conan answers this one, but I am confident that weights like 15lbs per inch are rediculous for most purposes, unless you are scaling up a guy who weighs 400+ pounds by one inch.

So if your 6'4" and you want to have the same bodyshape as a guy who is lets say 5'8" and 220 pounds, going by 15lbs per inch you would weigh 340 pounds? That is ABSURD. 340 at 6'4" is FAR thicker than 220 at 5'8"!

Try a BMI calculator. It is a scale made just for scaling up build by height, it is ussually used to see if you are obese for your height or not, but it would also work equally well to scale up a bodybuilder.

I applied that one to Big Conan. At 84.25" tall, or 7 foot and 1 quarter of an inch tall, and 143 kg, or 315 pounds, he has a BMI of 31.2, his goal is 330 pounds or 150kg lean( correct me if I'm wrong on that goal), and that would be 32.7 on the BMI.

Ok, so 330 at 7 foot is 32.7, what else is a 32.7? lets say at 6 foot you would be 241 pounds, asuming you are lean, you are pretty big. 1 inch taller? now its 248 pounds. If your 6'6" and 283 pounds you are also a 32.7 on the BMI calculator.

Try it out here: http://www.halls.md/body-mass-index/av.htm

Oh, and lets say one more time, if it was even 10 pounds per inch it would be too much. Why? Lets take Conan again; since he is the far end example at 7 foot and currently 315 pounds. If the 10 pounds per inch rule was correct, then at 6 foot his build would be the same as a guy who only weighs 195 pounds!, and at 5'8" he would only weigh about 155 pounds! Now you see how that is too much to subtract per inch.

Try taking 7 pounds per inch, and this is what you get; If the 7ft 315 lbs example (BMI of 31.4) at 6 foot he would be about 231 pounds (BMI of 31.3), and that is close match for Conan's current build. 231 at 6 foot, if it is a lean 231, is pretty damn thick, not Ronnie Coleman or top IFBB Pro, but action star bodybuilder thick.

That sounds about right. To be honest that's all too hard for me - I make no money out of it so I don't even think about it.

Too many years in the gym and too little money to show for it and you get like that - being big doesn't pay.

My current aim is to get abs out but I feel like I have been getting too skinny, so I am back on a gaining diet (not bulking diet) and am hoping that the additional muscle regain over the next 8 weeks will help burn the little fat left (as well as additional cardio - new girlfriend).

Now I just have to go find the new GF....

I think the true reason that we do not see bodybuilders in movies much these days, is how thick most bodybuilders, NPC heavies, and superheavies, and IFBB guys are now.

Guys who are so thick, so muscuar, that the ONLY thing they could be is a bodybuilder. You just cannot sell to an audience how a guy the shape of Jay Cutler, or Ronnie Coleman is anything but a bodybuilder. No one can see them in any other role.

The build that Arnold Schwarzenegger had, post competative bodybuilding, when he only weighed around 225 pounds, was perfect for movies. That plus his personality and self marketing ability helped him too.

Think about it, the build he had from 1981-1991 when he was in filming shape at a lean 6'1" and 225, was a build that an audience could see in the role of more than just a bodybuilder.

I think you are right, Conan, in wanting a build that is lean enough to see your abbs, and still look big and muscular. If you can get your abbs in at 315-330 pounds, good chance you would have that perfect combination of being ripped, and big, for movie roles. That and being 7 foot wont hurt either.

Hey, You should look up the Brothers Struas (sp?). They are directing the next Alien vs. Predator movie.

In the last film they had to use a skinny 7 foot guy in a muscle suit as the predator, thus he could hardly movie.

With you, they could just put the predator costume, and face mask on, and you would have the muscles, plus be mobile in the role. No need for movment constricting rubber suit.

See if there is any way to get an audition for that one. I think you would make a great Predator.

I moved my website around a fair bit and it seems most of the photos I originally put up have gone.

In reply to the Alien VS Predator - I didn't know they were doing a remake - that'd be great to play one of those - easy and good pay - perfect.

152kg

Big Old school style wrestler

This was from years ago, when I first started wrestling - I was trying desperately to get big by eating calories - soon after this I swapped to eating 6000 clean calories a day instead, which was very difficult to start with.

Also you have to note a lot of the weights for people shown on websites are pure fiction, as are the poundages they use.

(and BB magazines for that matter)

152kg = 335 pounds.

Conan is correct a lot of guys exaggerate their weights, and even heights too.

Any how, every one can ignore my post promoting the BMI. I just did some math and it is useless for scaling up bodyweight for height, just as useless as it is for obesity criteria.

According to the BMI basketball players, even the skinny ones, are obese. That is because of the math behind it. In the equation they fall apart for people who are very short, being way too heavy, and for tall people being way too light.

You can read about it here: http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/BMI/Body_Mass_Index_article.htm

Any how the “Specific mass index”, or the “Ponderal index”

Is the formula to figure out height to weight ratios.

This site has a calculator that can be use (in centimeters and kilograms) to scale up a human being of any height and weight: http://www.health-calc.com/content/view/17/34/

It is actually an SMI calculator, misslabeled as a Ponderal index calculator, but it works just as well, and PI numbers do correspond to SMI numbers.

So even though this site is labeled PI, it is actually the SMI, you will see if you do the math. To find out the PI you would need to calculate the cubed root of the persons weight (in kg), divide that by the height (in cm) and multiply that by 1000. That is a PI, to get SMI you would use this formula: (SMI = (PI) 3 /1000 )

Using this math means that Conan at 213 cm and a weight of 143 kg has an SMI of 14.8, when he was 152 kg his SMI was 15.7.

So if you have an SMI ( or PI mislabeled on the second link) of 14.8, for your height you would have the same amount of mass, not that it means the bodyfat% are the same, or that the mass is distributed in equal places, merely the weight compared to height are the same.
